Description: Join Village Growth Network for a round of “Ask a Speech Language Pathologist”. We will meet at the playground at Pineywood Park.  This event will include a blend of individual mini-sessions, group education, and facilitated discussions.

  1. Individual mini-sessions: You and your little one(s) will get a 10-minute private session with Dr. Jennifer Stone, SLP, to address any specific questions or concerns you have.

  2. Group education: Dr. Stone will lead a handful of 5-10min group presentations spread through the two hour event.

  3. Peer discussion: Between your individual session and the group presentations Kelly Partner will help facilitate small group discussions about a variety of communication topics.

Some of the topics that will be addressed during the event include:

  • Narrating - how much is too much? too little?

  • Non-verbal communication

  • Reading routines

  • Media literacy - starting young

  • Speech milestones

  • Growing vocabulary

  • Screen time and speech/language

  • Using the language of math and science early

Facilitators:
Dr. Jennifer Stone, Speech Language Pathologist
Kelly Partner, Family Nature Educator

Accessibility notes:  The parking lot is large, paved, and includes a handful of handicap parking spots. We will be gathering at the playground which has a mulch surface and is encased in a black step-over border.  If available, we will use the nearby picnic shelter in case of inclement weather. There is a standard concrete sidewalk leading from the parking lot to the playground.

Equitable pricing: We participate in equitable pricing with accessible, sustainable, and equitable rates for families to pick from. Equitable rates are for people who have greater access to financial resources (including health insurance and ESA+ grants as applicable). This rate helps redistribute wealth to the community by supporting accessible access rates, covering long term operation costs, and ensuring Village Growth Network facilitators are compensated for their time and expertise. "Sustainable" rates cover the basic costs of the event or class. "Accessible" rates are for people who have less access to financial resources.

Equitable pricing is rooted in trust and compassion between facilitators, families, and the community at large. We encourage families to honor their own financial health, which no one else can accurately measure.

Equitable price tiers for this event:

  • Equitable rate - $0

  • Sustainable rate - $5 (Coupon code: SUSTAIN)

  • Accessible rate - $10 (Coupon code: ACCESS)
